Disaster relief

The Philippines was named by a Belgian research group, the Centre for Research and Epidemiology of Disasters, in 2000 as the “most disaster prone nation” on earth.  They cited earthquakes, tsunamis, frequent typhoons, floods, landslides, volcanoes and a myriad of other natural calamities as the reason for selecting the Philippines for this dubious distinction.

Most disaster prone nation

· Emergency food supplies

· Purified water

· Evacuation assistance

· First Aid

We are now recruiting and training men from local churches in Aurora to become first responders to natural disasters in the region.  The men have named their organization Tulong Alay Sa Kapwa (T.A.S.K.) which means, ‘helping our neighbors.) Global Warmth provides rice, noodles, sugar and coffee to stricken families as well as purified water.  As first responders our teams will administer first aid and assist in the evacuation of those who must leave.

This is a new initiative for us, and we need funds to purchase supplies and secure transport for the upcoming typhoon season.  We will be working in concert with local government to assist where they need our help.

As I write this there are two low pressure systems to the east of Luzon, both moving to the west.  Tropical storms and typhoons destroy crops, disrupt business, and endanger lives.
