Please help the most disaster prone nation on earth!

“Ondoy” came ashore in 2009 just twenty miles from our home here in Aurora as a tropical storm.  At one point more than 80% of Manila was submerged by rains from this system.

The Philippines was named by a Belgian research group, the Centre for Research and Epidemiology of Disasters, in 2000 as the “most disaster prone nation” on earth.  They cited earthquakes, tsunamis, frequent typhoons, floods, landslides, volcanoes and a myriad of other natural calamities as the reason for selecting the Philippines for this dubious distinction.

How we assist:  We provide food, shelter, and purified drinking water during major natural disasters. We’ve recruited over seventy men to participate in our effort called TASK —“Tulong Alay Sa Kapwa” (translated as “assistance for our neighbors”.  We provide monthly training, including CPR and emergency first aid, water purification, shelter management, and  provide pre-positioned food stock before major typhoons strike.

Here’s  how you can help

Your donation of $60 will provide a million gallons of purified water for one of our evacuation shelters.

Your donation of $35 will provide a 50 kilo (110 pound) sack of rice that will be used to feed people suffering from a natural disaster.

Your donation of any amount will help us purchase a generator for our largest shelter, flashlights and batteries, fuel for evacuation vehicles and help us with other needed expenses during times of calamity.
